New Electrical Regulations for Landlords

Are you aware of the recent changes to the law regarding electrical testing of rented properties?

From the 1st June 2020 new regulations came into force to help raise the standards of electrical safety in rented properties and protect tenants and landlords from the hazards associated with unsafe electrical systems.

Many landlords already have a proactive approach to this and Neil’s Electrical Services work alongside landlords and letting agents to ensure that the properties that they own and manage are as safe as they can be. The new regulations require all landlords to ensure that all electrical installations are inspected and tested by a qualified and competent person at least every five years, that tenants are provided with a copy of the electrical safety report and that these reports are available for the local authority if they request a copy.

At NES, we fully support this move to ensure that all of the rented housing offered to people is high-quality, safe and secure. Covering Southern Hampshire and beyond, we are committed to supporting landlords with the electrical inspections and testing that is now required by law. As qualified electricians we can then quote for and carry out any repairs to the system that are identified in the EICR test promptly so that tenants are not inconvenienced.

To find out more or book a test please contact us at Neil’s Electrical Services on 023 8032 8104 or 07802 356 561.
